Meet Our Team

I am originally from the state of Michoacán, Mexico. In 1980, I arrived in the United
States and began working in flower cultivation for various companies.
In July 1987, I started working at Milgro, where I developed a wide range of skills and
responsibilities. Milgro was the company that trusted me as a grower, and in 1994 I was
promoted to Assistant Manager. Later, in 2000, I continued with the company as
Manager of the Bouquet Department until 2006, when I left Milgro to join The Sun Valley
Group as a grower.
In 2009, Sun Valley promoted me to General Field Manager and Supervisor of the
Sleeving Department, positions I held until the company stopped growing flowers in
Oxnard, CA.
In 2020, I founded my own company, and today I proudly serve as the CEO and
General Director of Channel Islands Flowers, where I continue to work as a grower and
leader, developing best practices for the excellent cultivation of flowers.
My mission is to position Channel Islands Flowers as a leading company in the flower growing, cultivation, and sales industry, meeting the highest market standards. Together
with my team, I strive to promote respect and admiration among all members, with the
goal of satisfying every client who chooses our flowers — grown with dedication and
passion.

I am originally from Mexico, and since I was a child, part of my life has been dedicated
to helping my family in agricultural work. In 1993, seeking a better future and personal
growth, I came to the United States, where I began my first job at Pleasant Valley
Flowers. There, I was able to apply my agricultural knowledge and develop a deep
passion for growing flowers.
In 2001, I joined The Sun Valley Group, where I performed different roles, from
operating tractors and preparing the fields, to later, in 2012, being promoted to Manager.
I continued working with Sun Valley until the company stopped growing flowers in
Oxnard.
In 2020, after the pandemic, I began a new chapter with Channel Islands Flowers,
working alongside my former supervisor, Manuel Ayala. Together, we continued doing
what we love most, growing flowers of the highest quality.
For me, cultivating flowers is more than just a job; it is a passion that fills me with
purpose and joy. It inspires me to keep learning, experimenting, and striving for
excellence, always surrounded by an amazing team of hardworking, kind people who
bring more than labor; they bring heart and dedication every day.
My mission is to continue contributing to the growth of a company that values its people,
a place that feels human, supportive, and like family, where every day we nurture not
only flowers, but also our shared dreams.

I am a proud Mexican woman, born and raised in a small community in the state of
Michoacán, surrounded by the beauty of the countryside. As the daughter zand
granddaughter of farmers, I grew up deeply connected to the land. Thanks to my
parents’ encouragement, I was able to pursue education beyond my hometown,
attending different schools and completing several courses that shaped both my
knowledge and my character.
In 2011, I graduated from Colegio de Bachilleres with a Technical Degree in
Administrative Accounting, later, in 2015, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Law in
Mexico. Even before completing my studies, I began working in Public Administration.
In 2018, I embarked on what was meant to be a temporary adventure, one that soon
became my passion: the floral industry. My first job in the U.S. was with The Sun Valley
Group, where I started in production and was later given the opportunity to grow
professionally. I began applying my administrative skills while learning the art and
rhythm of the flower industry — an experience that became my second education and
then in 2019, I was promoted to Assistant to the General Manager, and by 2020, I also
served as Production Coordinator. During that time, I had the privilege of being part of
the CIP group, where I gained invaluable knowledge, not only about flowers, processes,
and leadership but also about personal growth and the human side of teamwork,
lessons I deeply value and carry with me to this day.
In 2024, following the closure of Sun Valley Group, I joined Channel Islands Flowers,
where I was entrusted with helping to build the areas of production, packing, and
distribution from the ground up. Since that day, it has been a journey filled with both
challenges and triumphs, and I am proud to witness the incredible growth of our
company.
I truly love working in the flower industry the fast-paced seasons, the constant
challenges, and, above all, the people who share the same passion for what we do.
My mission at Channel Islands Flowers is to keep growing, learning, and evolving every
day, surrounded by the best team, exceptional leaders, and a work environment that
motivates and inspires me to give my best in everything I do.

My name is Valerie Ayala, and I’ve been a part of our family’s flower company since we
opened our doors in 2020. Born and raised in Oxnard, California, I graduated in 2019
and have been dedicated to helping our family business grow ever since. As the office
manager, I oversee our accounts and handle the accounting side of the company,
making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
Being part of this company from the very beginning has been such a rewarding
experience. I’ve had the opportunity to watch it grow from a small family dream into
something that brings joy to so many people in our community. I’m proud to work
alongside my family and our amazing team to support the creative work that goes into
every order. My goal for the company is to continue helping it grow while maintaining
the same family values, quality, and care that our customers have come to know and
love.

I am originally from the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. In my home country, I worked as a
Project Manager in the Architecture and Design industry and was a partner in a
construction firm.
I came to the United States in 2016 and began working at The Sun Valley Group in the
production area. Later, I became a Field Supervisor Assistant. In 2017, I was hired as a
contractor, responsible for recruiting personnel and workers for Sun Valley. During my
time as a contractor, I received several trainings in Human Resources and Workplace
Safety, which helped me strengthen my knowledge and skills in HR management.
In 2022, I finished my work as a contractor and joined Channel Islands Flowers that
same year.
My mission is to strengthen the labor relations between the company and its workers,
promoting respect for human rights and fostering a positive and supportive work

Hello, I am Jennifer Espinoza. I was born in Ventura, CA and raised in Oxnard, Ca. As I
was growing up my family was always involved in the agricultural industry where they
picked vegetables, fruits and flowers. Growing up I never envisioned myself working in
the floral industry since I was in a program with the Oxnard Police Department and I
wanted to work in law enforcement. Once I graduated high school I attended Oxnard
College and plan on going back to study accounting.
My first job was in 2020 at a floral company named Sun Valley Group where my mom
had also worked at for 18 years. I began working in the production lines and slowly
began to escalate in other departments like, inventory, labeling/packaging, shipping &
receiving. As I progressed through the company my aspirations grew for this industry
and wanted to continue learning and progressing in other areas.
I began to work for Channel Islands Flowers Inc by the end of 2024 as a sales
representative. It was an exciting challenge as it was something I have not done before
but was ready to learn and take on. Being in sales has taught me many new skills that I
have now learned and excelled. I enjoy coming in to work and seeing the variety of
colors and product we have to offer. I also like the good work environment we have here
at Channel Islands Flowers. On my free time I enjoy spending time with family and
going out on walks to the beach.

I was raised on California’s Central Coast, where agriculture has always been part of the rhythm of life. My journey in the floral industry began when I was sixteen, while I was still completing high school through an independent studies program. I had always been driven to work and contribute from a young age, and being on independent studies allowed me to balance both school and work at the same time.
What started as a temporary job during the busy Christmas season quickly grew into something much bigger. I initially planned to work for just three weeks to earn a little extra money for Christmas gifts, but after the holidays, I was invited back for the Valentine’s-through–Mother’s Day season. Between those holidays, I was injured and had to report my injury to the Human Resources office. While I recovered, I was asked to help in the office — an unexpected opportunity that opened the door to an entirely new path.
Once I recovered, I transitioned into administrative support, later assisting the sales department. By the age of seventeen, I was officially promoted into the sales team. Over the past twelve years, I’ve developed a deep passion for flowers — not only for their beauty and the happiness they bring, but also for what they represent: growth, care, and connection.
For me, flowers are more than just a product; they’re a reflection of teamwork, dedication, and joy. Being part of the process that connects growers to customers — and helping share California-grown flowers with the world — continues to inspire me every day.
My mission is to continue contributing to the growth of Channel Islands Flowers, a company built on quality, integrity, and heart. I’m proud to be part of a team that shares the same love for what we do: growing beauty, one bloom at a time. 🌸
